Metatron’s Jewels:

A Journey Through Sacred Geometry and Universal Interconnectedness

Have you ever considered how deeply connected your every action and intention is to others and the entire universe? Many people go through life without realizing that their thoughts and actions shape their daily experiences. I have often thought about this and started to reflect on my actions and thoughts to better align them with my life's goals. What I discovered is that when you consciously align your actions and intentions with your aspirations, you create a strong foundation for personal growth and greater harmony within yourself and the universe. This practice not only enhances well-being but also serves as an inspiring example for others seeking deeper meaning and purpose in their lives. It is a commendable journey of self-reflection and intentionality that transforms one's perspective and, consequently, one's life for the better.

Think of it like planting a garden. If you plant seeds (your actions and intentions) and nurture them with care (positive thoughts and consistency), you will eventually grow beautiful flowers (achieve your goals and find harmony). If you neglect the garden or plant weeds (negative actions and thoughts), it will not flourish, and without realizing it, you end up blaming the world for the negative outcome and lack of success. Similarly, by consciously choosing positive actions, intentions, and thoughts, you can cultivate a fulfilling and harmonious life. You are participating in this process every moment of every day, whether you realize it or not. So, why not choose actions and intentions that lead to a thriving garden of life? This is one of the intrinsic messages that Metatron's Jewels hopes to reawaken in visitors.

The Story behind Metatron's Jewels:

In the vast tapestry of the universe, two ancient and profound symbols stand out for their deep spiritual and philosophical significance: Indra’s Jewels and Metatron’s Cube. Each carries a rich legacy of wisdom and cosmic understanding, and their fusion gives birth to a new symbol, Metatron’s Jewels, encapsulating the essence of interconnectedness and divine geometry.

Metatron

Is a prominent figure in mystical traditions, particularly within Jewish mysticism and Kabbalistic teachings. Often considered one of the highest-ranking angels in heaven, Metatron is referred to as the "scribe of God" or the "heavenly scribe." In various texts, Metatron is described as having numerous functions, including recording the deeds of humanity, guiding the ascension of souls, and transmitting divine wisdom.

Metatron is believed to have once been a human prophet named Enoch, who was transformed into an angel. According to the Book of Enoch, Enoch was taken to heaven and transformed into Metatron as a reward for his extraordinary righteousness. This divine transformation serves as a powerful bridge between humanity and the celestial realm, suggesting that through the right circumstances, conditions, and dedicated internal work, one's soul can ascend to an angelic state of consciousness.

In Kabbalistic teachings, Metatron is associated with the sephirah of Keter, the highest of the ten sephirot in the Tree of Life, symbolizing the crown or the divine connection. Metatron is also considered the angel who led the Israelite's through the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt and is often depicted as a powerful intercessor who stands before the throne of God, advocating on behalf of humanity.

Metatron's presence is thought to offer guidance, protection, and insight, helping individuals connect with their higher selves and access deeper spiritual wisdom. His role as a divine scribe and mediator between God and humanity underscores the importance of maintaining purity of thought and action, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all things.

Artistic Interpretation of Metatron's Cube

Flower of Life Pattern reveals Metatron's Cube

Metatron's Cube is a geometric figure composed of 13 circles connected by straight lines, believed to represent the fabric of the universe and the building blocks of creation. This shape encompasses the five Platonic solids and is often associated with sacred geometry. The cube is named after Metatron due to its mystical and spiritual significance, symbolizing the underlying patterns and harmonies in the cosmos where every element is part of a grand, divine blueprint.

Indra:

Indra is a deity from Hindu mythology, often regarded as the king of the Gods and ruler of the heavens, specifically Svarga, the domain of the devas (Gods). Indra is known for his role as a warrior god, a protector of the universe, and the god of rain, thunderstorms, and war. He wields the thunderbolt weapon known as Vajra and rides the celestial white elephant, Airavata.

As a central figure in Vedic mythology, Indra's influence extends beyond his role as a warrior. He is also celebrated as a bringer of rains and a nurturer of life, essential for the sustenance of the natural world. Indra's ability to control the weather symbolizes the balance between destruction and renewal, highlighting the cyclical nature of existence. Through his actions and dominion, Indra embodies the dynamic interplay of forces that maintain cosmic order and harmony.

Indra's Net:

Is a metaphor from Buddhist and Hindu philosophies, particularly within Mahayana Buddhism. It illustrates the concept of interdependence and interconnectedness in the universe. Indra's net is described as an infinite web with a multifaceted jewel at each node, reflecting all other jewels in the net. Each reflection contains the image of every other jewel, symbolizing the idea that all phenomena are intimately connected and that every part of the universe contains and reflects the whole. This metaphor highlights the profound interconnectedness of all existence and the idea that individual actions can have far-reaching effects throughout the entire cosmos.

Just as a slice of pie holds the essence, flavor, and taste of the whole pie, each one of us contains the essence of the entire universe within us. Indra's Net reminds us that we are not separate from the cosmos but reflections of its infinite beauty and power. Each thought, each action, sends ripples through the fabric of existence, echoing the divine within us all.

The Fusion:

In Metatron’s Jewels, the boundless network of Indra’s Jewels is intertwined with the sacred geometry of Metatron’s Cube, creating a new symbol that embodies both the interconnectedness and the divine structure of the universe. Each jewel within this fusion reflects not only every other jewel but also the intricate patterns of Metatron’s Cube, illustrating the union of individual essence and cosmic order. Metatron’s Jewels tells a story of unity and divine harmony. It reminds us that we are all connected, each of us a radiant jewel within the vast cosmic web, reflecting and contributing to the universal order.

This fusion symbolizes the intricate dance between the microcosm and the macrocosm, where every action and thought reverberates through the divine fabric of existence. Through Metatron’s Jewels, we are invited to contemplate our place within the universe, to recognize the sacred geometry that underlies our reality, and to appreciate the profound interconnectedness of all things. It is a symbol of enlightenment, guiding us to see the beauty in the harmony of the cosmos and our integral role within it.

The Installation is an immersive art experience that invites visitors on a profound journey through the realms of sacred geometry and universal interconnectedness. Inspired by the ancient metaphor of Indra's Net from Hindu philosophy, this project explores the intricate and ever-present connections among all elements of the universe. This installation concept is rooted in the idea that every action and intention resonates beyond its immediate context, influencing and reflecting within the cosmic tapestry of life.

Metatron's Jewels is designed to manifest these ethereal concepts into a tangible form through the use of sacred geometry, a discipline that attributes symbolic and sacred meanings to certain geometric shapes and proportions. At the core of the installation lies Metatron’s Cube, a symbol derived from the Flower of Life, known for its representation of the five Platonic solids. These geometric forms are not just theoretical constructs but are considered the building blocks of the material world, embodying the natural laws that form our reality. Each component of the artwork—meticulously crafted and placed—mirrors the idea that every individual action contributes to the collective reality, embodying the profound impact of mindfulness and intention in our daily lives.

Metatron's Jewels is more than an art exhibition; it is an invitation to embrace the unity and beauty of life, urging each viewer to reflect on the significance of their actions and intentions in shaping both personal growth and universal harmony. Join us in this transformative experience, where art meets philosophy and spirituality, illuminating the interconnected nature of all things and celebrating the journey of intentional living.

"When one realizes that everything springs only from oneself, one achieves supreme freedom." - Buddha, circa 5th century BCE

"Brahman is responsible for the interconnectedness of things and has become the living and the non-living; the visible and the invisible; the creatures which are two-footed and those that are four-footed. He became the subtle body and then the gross body by means of a subtle instrument known as the subtle body. This very Being became the vital consciousness of all. This is known as the MadhuVidya, the sense of the ‘honey’ of all beings, the knowledge of the inter-dependence of things and the vital connection of everything, under every condition, at every time, everywhere."

The Great Net of Indra: A Cosmic Tapestry

Imagine a vast, cosmic net where each junction is adorned with a shimmering jewel. Each jewel, perfectly reflective, mirrors not only the jewels immediately adjacent but also every other jewel in the net. This ancient metaphor from Hindu philosophy illustrates a universe where everything influences everything else — a theme central to Metatron’s Jewels.

Metatron's Jewels was born from my fascination with this interconnectedness and my place within it. Inspired by the ancient Hindu concept of Indra's net, often referred to as Indra’s jewels, this project uses sacred geometry to explore how our intentions and actions ripple through the cosmos. Indra’s net, rooted in the Avatamsaka Sutra, teaches us that every part of the universe is intimately linked, reflecting and affecting all others. This ancient philosophy underscores the idea that our individual actions, no matter how small, have far-reaching consequences across the tapestry of existence.

By incorporating the principles of sacred geometry, Metatron’s Jewels aims to visualize these connections, creating a tangible representation of the profound interdependence described in Indra's net. The installation not only reflects the beauty and complexity of the cosmos but also invites viewers to contemplate their own role within this vast, interconnected web. Through this ancient wisdom and modern artistic expression, we are reminded of the power of mindfulness and intentionality in shaping both our personal lives and the broader universe. Join me in this journey of discovery, where art, philosophy, and spirituality converge to illuminate the interconnected nature of all things.

"The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself." - Carl Sagan, 1980

"As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul..."

- Hermes Trismegistus, from the Emerald Tablet, date unknown (believed to be ancient Hellenistic period)

Reflective Materials and Lighting

By incorporating reflective materials and strategic lighting, the installation captures and bends light, illustrating how our perceptions and understanding are continually shaped by our interactions with others. The mirrored surfaces reflect the physical surroundings and the viewers themselves, inviting a personal connection and reflection on one's role within the larger mosaic of existence. This dynamic interplay of light and reflection emphasizes the continuous influence we exert on each other and the universe. Each viewer's movement around the sculpture changes what they see and what is seen by others, symbolically demonstrating how our individual actions and intentions ripple outward in profound and often unseen ways.

Through 'Metatron’s Jewels,' I invite viewers to ponder their own interconnectedness with the cosmos and consider how their thoughts and actions can harmonize with or disrupt the delicate balance of the universe. It is my hope that this sculpture not only inspires awe and wonder but also fosters a deeper understanding and respect for the intricate web of life that binds us all.

Sacred Geometry and the Dance of the Platonic Solids

At the heart of this art installation is Metatron’s cube, a sacred geometric figure that contains the five platonic solids — known as the building blocks of the universe. These shapes are not just mathematical curiosities; they are fundamental to the way atoms bond and assemble into everything around us. By constructing a large-scale model using the line structure of Metatron’s cube to depict Indra’s web, I suspend an array of these solids, crafted from reflective materials, at the junction points of a steel web.

"You are the universe in ecstatic motion." - Rumi, 13th century

"This great world is the power net of mighty Indra, greater than the great. By that Indra-net of boundless reach, I hold all those enemies with the dark cover of vision, mind, and senses."

(Atharva Veda 8.8.8) (UniGuid).

Reflecting the Universe: Every Surface Tells a Story

As you approach "Metatron's Jewels," you'll notice how each platonic solid hangs precisely, its mirrored surfaces catching light and reflections from the environment. This design choice is deliberate. Just as Indra’s jewels reflect their surroundings, so too do these geometric forms, reminding us that our actions and intentions are similarly reflective, impacting the world in seen and unseen ways.

Invitation to Reflect

As you view "Metatron’s Jewels," consider how a single change within these reflections might alter the entire scene. What might this suggest about our own lives? Each choice and intention sends out ripples that affect the whole, a reminder of our powerful role within the universal tapestry.

The Flower of Life: Femininity in Form and Function

The Flower of Life is a geometric configuration that creates a repetitive, overlapping circular pattern with a six-fold symmetry like a hexagon. The oldest known depiction of this pattern, found etched into the pillars of the Temple of Osiris in Abydos, Egypt, appears almost laser-burned into granite. This intricate form is not just decorative; it embodies the feminine aspect of creation and continuity, with Metatron’s cube nestled within its design, further linking the microcosm and macrocosm.

Conclusion: A Mirror to Our World

Metatron’s Jewels is more than an art installation; it is a meditation on connection and impact. It challenges us to consider our place in the universe and to reflect on how deeply our lives are interwoven with those around us. As you leave, take with you the awareness of your own reflections and the power they have to shape the world.
